Comparative analyses of antibiotic use in dogs, cats and equines in veterinary practices

11.11.2024 - In summer 2024, for the first time since the Swiss veterinary antibiotic information system (IS ABV) was introduced, veterinarians received a report on antibiotic prescribing in dogs, cats and equines in their practice or clinic. This practice-specific report will allow inter-practice comparisons of antibiotic usage in 2022 and 2023.

Example (in German) of the classification of a veterinary practice or clinic for the years 2022 and 2023 for an animal species (dogs, cats or equids) compared to other practices and clinics. The practice animal treatment index (pATI or pTBI in German) indicates the intensity of antibiotic (AB) use in a practice: no, acceptable, high or very high antibiotic use.
