Mystery pathogen quiz

10.03.2025 - Test your microbiology knowledge with this new quiz, designed by the University of Zurich to highlight five pathogens that play a significant role in antimicrobial resistance (AMR). These microorganisms challenge healthcare by resisting antibiotic treatments. Prove your expertise and learn more about these impactful microorganisms.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) presents a growing challenge in healthcare, driven by microorganisms that have developed the ability to withstand antibiotics. To raise awareness about this critical issue, the Applied Microbiology Research Group at the Insitute of Medical Microbiology of the University of Zurich, led by Prof. Adrian Egli, has developed an engaging quiz as part of World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW).

This quiz invites participants to identify five pathogens known for their relevance to AMR. It is designed to provide an interactive way to learn about the challenges posed by these microorganisms while encouraging reflection on the importance of combating AMR.

Are you ready? Dive into the «Guess the Pathogen» quiz and join the fight against AMR - one question at a time!

The Applied Microbiology Research Group actively contributes to science communication and education, participating in events such as the National Day of Laboratory Medicine, the Children’s University of Zurich, and teaching activities for students in the medical and science faculty. Their research focuses on integrating -omics technologies and machine learning to better understand and tackle infectious diseases, including AMR.

Participation in WAAW is a natural extension of their mission to make complex scientific topics more accessible to a broader audience. Through this quiz, they hope to spark interest and promote greater understanding of AMR and its global implications.
