International Antibiotic Awareness Week

From 13 to 19 November 2017, international organizations such as the World Health Organization invite you to ‘World Antibiotic  Awareness Week’, whose purpose is to raise global awareness of antibiotic resistance in the public as well as with professionals and  policymakers. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is conducting a European Antibiotic Day with the  same objective. It will be held in Europe on 18 November 2017.

The Swiss media were already informed about the development and implementation of the ‘Swiss Antibiotic Resistance Strategy’ in  recent years (also on 18 November). Additional information will be available this year. All stakeholders will have the opportunity to  provide information on the topic of antibiotic resistance under one roof, and to address the affected groups directly.

To this end, the Federal Offices of Public Health, Agriculture, and Environment as well as the Food Safety and Veterinary Office are  planning events and activities together with various stakeholders. The week of 13 to 19 November is also a good opportunity for the media to address issues related to antibiotic resistance and its consequences. The aim is to discuss the problem of antibiotic  resistance.

Further information and details of Antibiotic Week 2017 are published regularly on this web page. All interested parties and  stakeholders are invited to participate actively in ‘Antibiotic Awareness Week’: if you would like to participate, please contact us at  star@bag.admin.ch (see contactbox, right-hand column).
